The problem

Big music libraries get messy, and shuffle ignores the mood you are in.

What we built

  • On-device analysis that tags each song by mood, genre, energy and tempo.
  • Mixes by mood, genre and energy, and a queue that builds itself around the song you play.
  • Playlists, a sleep timer, an equaliser and gapless playback, all offline.

Where it is now

About MoodWave

MoodWave is a music player for the songs already on your Android phone. It scans your library, separates music from voice notes, ringtones and podcasts, and analyses each track on the phone to tag its mood, genre, energy and tempo.

Those tags power the mixes: a daily mix, and mixes by mood, genre and energy. Start a song and a smart queue lines up similar tracks; after a few plays, a For You list ranks music from your own listening history. Playlists, a sleep timer, an equaliser, crossfade and gapless playback are built in.

The app is built in Flutter, with native Kotlin for audio decoding, tempo detection and TensorFlow Lite, and it is designed to work offline. MoodWave is in development and not yet released.
